Commonwealth Games Parking Restrictions

Get Set For The Games!

GOLD Coasters would be wise to leave the car at home during the during the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Those who don’t run the risk of having a nightmare time trying to find a park in many suburbs.

The Gold Coast Bulletin has compiled a list of every location where parking will be affected during this year’s event.

Commonwealth Games Parking Restrictions For the 4211 Area

NERANG

The Nerang State Forest (Hope Street, Nerang), will host men’s and women’s the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Mountain Bike Races on Thursday 12 April 2018.

Please note: Nerang Station will also be busier than usual due to other Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games taking place around the area.

Support from the community is essential in making GC2018 a success. There will be temporary changes to access and parking, and some areas are expected to be busier than usual.

Local area access and parking

As part of GC2018 security requirements, some residents and businesses located very close to Games venues will be issued with Local Access Permits.

Where roads are closed and local access permitted, residents and businesses will require Local Access Permits to drive their vehicles past the closure points and into their properties. Pedestrians and cyclists are permitted in closed roads, although cyclists will need to dismount through the secure zone.

Detailed parking and loading zone changes continue to be communicated as planning progresses.
 

CARRARA

The area around Carrara Stadium and Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre will be busy with people and vehicles going to and from GC2018 events. The opening ceremony will take place at Carrara Stadium on Wednesday 4 April and the closing ceremony will take place on Sunday 15 April 2018. Competition will take place for a total of 10 days from Thursday 5 April to Sunday 15 April 2018.

Springbrook Road Works

Gold Coast-Springbrook Road: restoration works
Restoration works to permanently repair the damage sustained on Gold Coast-Springbrook Road during the wet weather event associated with ex-severe Tropical Cyclone Debbie in March 2017. The volume and intensity of the rainfall caused significant damage to slope stability, with 112 recorded locations of landslips, above and below the road. 

Transport and Main Roads are finalising solutions to permanently repair approximately 30 critical sites and a team of specialised designers has been engaged.
Transport and Main Roads is committed to restoring full access for the community as soon as possible.
Pine Creek Road, western connection, will remain the detour route to Springbrook.

Springbrook Road
15 tonne load limit between Repeater Station Road and Boy Ull Road due to culvert damage under the road.
